Introduction

Life is full of ups and downs. One minute you’re in those what I like to call, “fizzy-dizzy highs” and, exhilarating as this may feel, you soon come crashing down into those, “you’d-better- believe-it lows”. One encouraging thing is that these seldom last, even though it sure feels like they will, at the time.

This is when your sparkle toolkit comes in handy. It’s a little like first aid for feeling fabulous.. This brings me to the reason why I wrote this book.

I recall a session I had once with a well-esteemed coach and mentor. She asked me what I wanted to do; how did I want to help people? Without a moment’s hesitation, I said that I wanted to help women sparkle; and then I got ‘the look’. You know the one. She said, as she rolled her eyes, “Darling, nobody gets out of bed in the morning and thinks ‘I’ve got to get more sparkle in my life’. It’s got to be something more tangible like, ‘I have to get out of debt’.” 

My heart sank. For a few seconds, it reminded me of a time as a child when a teacher told me I couldn’t do dance and drama, because I already sang in a choir and played an instrument in an orchestra. “But I don’t understand – why not?” I asked that teacher. I asked this coach a similar question. 

I beg to differ, I think a girl can never have too much sparkle in her life – and I don’t just mean the bling kind either; not that there’s anything wrong with that.

To me, sparkle is your essence or, as the French say, your raison d’être – your reason to be. It’s the famous je ne sais quoi; that certain something about you. It needs no name or introduction. It’s part of you, and you are tangible; you are solid, in fact. And more precious than anything else on the planet.

So, if you’re reading this, and perhaps you’re thinking, ‘Something is missing in my life and I can’t quite put my finger on it, but I need something different, some pizzazz, some va-va-voom, some sparkle’. Well, keep reading, my friend, because we are about to get you super-charged, and crazy in love with your life.
