Social media can be your best friend or your worst enemy; it all depends on your perspective.
To a large extent you can help towards making it a happier experience for yourself.
Here are some tips to help you along the way:
Like and follow
Like and follow pages and groups that resonate with you i.e. pages and people that light you up with joy and that make you smile and feel like a breath of fresh air when you scroll down your feed. This way, you remain true to your values and beliefs and have a genuine interest in what they are all about.
Equally, if you have given a said page or group a try and it no longer serves you, then simply unfollow or unlike the page or group. Don’t feel pressurised into staying or feel that you have invested so much time in it that you should see your commitment through. Life is too short!
Share positivity
Try to share positive and happy quotes and experiences on your feed. This not only helps others feel good, it’s also a pleasure to scroll down your own feed and feel uplifted.
Get involved when you can
Social media is all about getting social online. So, like, comment and share other people’s posts that you enjoy. It’s a two-way street, so when you interact with others, you’re more likely to encourage others to want to befriend you.
Take a break
You don’t have to constantly post. While it’s great to have consistency, it’s also good for you to have balance. Take a break from it now and then, and get back to the real world to re-charge your batteries so to speak. This reminds you to remain true to what’s important in life and by spending quality time, either with your friends and family or by yourself, you will feel refreshed and who knows? You may even feel inspired to post new content when you are ready!
Know your limitations
I am a big fan that if something doesn’t feel good, don’t do it. So, if it makes you happy and you enjoy taking part, then carry on, if on the other hand it doesn’t then discover something that does work for you. It could be a different social media platform or something entirely different. Remember, you hold the keys to your happiness.
Enjoy
Social media is all about having fun and meeting like-minded people as well as friends and family, so why not enjoy it? You may even make some friends along the way 😊
